London – A Clare Sonnet

Picture a world of light, magic and dreams

Where love did blossom stands only a theme

Lost tradition became faded and grey

Consumerism defined, ‘please let’s pay’

Laughter aplenty with screams of delight

Behind black windows, shrieks darken the night

Alone and afraid community’s lost

What once gifted joy at little a cost

Loved yet unloved is now fiction not fact

A night of elegance broken and cracked

The graveyard of the mind shackled by chain

This stereotyped masterpiece of pain

Now London’s been lost to frauds on TV

The extinction of society free
